Connect a Bank Account

You can connect a bank account that will be used to fund the True Link Visa® Prepaid Card once the Card has been ordered. The Card must be funded before a cardholder can begin using it to make purchases.

As an alternative, you can use direct deposit to fund the card. In this case, you do not need to connect a bank account. See our article titled Transfer Funds To a Card for details.  

In this article, you’ll learn how to connect a bank account to the Card. 

Connect a new bank account

There are two ways to connect a bank account through your administrator dashboard:

  • Log in to your True Link user account. 
  • Go to the dashboard of the cardholder for whom you would like to connect a bank account.
  • Click on the “Funding” tab and select “Connect new bank account” in the upper-right corner. A pop-up window will present two options for connecting a bank account:  

  • Option 1: Select “Log in to my bank” for instant connection. Note: You must be enrolled in your bank’s online banking system to use this option, and this option may not be available for all banks. Instant connection is powered by Plaid, a company that many leading financial institutions use to authenticate bank accounts.
    • Search for and select your bank from the options provided.
    • Enter the user ID and password you use for online banking. 
    • You will receive confirmation that your bank account has been connected. No further action is required; you will be able to schedule transfers using your bank account right away. 
  • Option 2: Select “Enter my account info.” This process takes 2-4 business days and does not require an online banking user ID or password. 
    • Enter your account number and routing number. 
    • True Link will send two small deposits (under $1 each) to the newly connected bank account in 2 to 4 business days.
    • After 2 to 4 business days, check for deposits into the attached bank account via your bank’s online portal or by calling your bank. The two small deposits will appear as credits to your account.
    • After you have received the two deposits from True Link, return to the “Funding” tab on your administrator dashboard and click the “Verify Account” button. 
    • Enter the two amounts that you received in your bank account and click “Submit.” 

Once you have connected a bank account for one cardholder, you can easily connect the same bank account for additional cardholders. To do this, go to the “Funding” tab for the given cardholder, and select “Copy verified bank account.”
