Activate your Card

This article is intended for ABLE customers.

Your card can be activated as soon as it arrives in the mail. Once the card is activated and funded from the ABLE account, the cardholder can begin using their card. In this article, you’ll learn how to activate a card. 

Options to activate a card

Cards can be activated in three ways: 

Option 1 - Online
  • Cards can be activated online by logging into the administrator dashboard
    • Under “Status,” click “Activate” for the relevant card. We will ask you to verify that you are the cardholder or have the authority to activate the card on behalf of the cardholder.
  • To activate cards, the following information is required: 
    • The last 4 digits of the card number
    • Cardholder's date of birth 
    • Cardholder Social Security number 
  • A pop-up window confirms that your activation was successful. If activation is not successful, confirm and re-enter the activation information. If it still does not work, you’ll receive an email from our Support team with the next steps required to activate your card.
Option 2 - Automated phone system: 
  • Cards can be activated by calling the number on the back of your card.
  • Press 2 to activate the card. 
  • Enter the last 4 digits of the card number.
  • Enter the 4 digits of the cardholder's year of birth  
  • Enter the cardholder's Social Security number.
  • Complete activation. 
Option 3 - Customer Support: 
  • Our customer support team can also help activate cards. By calling the number on the back of the card you can also request to speak with a member of our Customer Support team.
  • To activate the card with a member of our team, please be prepared to share the cardholder’s date of birth and Social Security number.
