Spending Limits

Administrators have two ways to access the Spending Settings to block transactions and cash withdrawals over a given dollar amount. Please know that if the Card has both a purchase spending limit and a cash withdrawal limit in place, the purchase spending limit will supersede the card’s cash withdrawal limit.

Option 1 -  True Link Financial mobile app: Once you are logged in to the mobile app as an administrator, tap on “Spending Settings.”

  • At the middle of the page, you will see the “Spending Limits” setting and can tap “Edit” to add cash withdrawal or spending limits.
  • Tap “Save” to apply the limitation to the Card account.

Option 2 - Online dashboard: Through your online dashboard, go to the “Spending Settings” tab.

  • Under “Spending Limits” you will see the option to set a cash withdrawal or spending limit.
  • The box to the left of these options needs to be checked for the limit to be applied.

Additional information regarding cash withdrawal limits

There are daily and monthly limits regarding the amount of cash that can be withdrawn that apply to all cardholders.

Daily Limits:

  • $500 / day from an ATM or point of sale transaction (e.g., cash back with purchase)
  • $500 / day over the counter cash withdrawal (e.g., from a bank teller)

Monthly Limits:

  • $3,000 / month from a domesticn ATM or point of sale transactions (e.g., cash back with purchase)
  • $3,000 / month over the counter cash withdrawal (e.g., from a bank teller)
  • $1,000 / month for international ATM or point of sale transactions (e.g., cash back with purchase)

The daily and monthly limits reset at midnight Pacific Standard Time and on the first day of each month.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our Customer Support team.

Cash withdrawal limits determine the amount a cardholder can spend on a single withdrawal. Please be aware that there is no limit to the number of withdrawals a cardholder can make in a given time period.

Additional information regarding purchase spending limits

Please consider the following information when setting purchase spending limits:

  • Some merchants will authorize an amount greater than the purchase price to account for potential additional charges, such as gratuity or hotel incidentals. This is called a “pre-authorization”, and it is common for merchants where the exact amount owed isn’t known at the time the merchant swipes the Card (e.g., gas stations, restaurants, and hotels).
  • If a purchase spending limit is set, and the total amount authorized exceeds the purchase spending limit, that purchase will be declined. For example, if the purchase spending limit is set to $30 and the restaurant bill before tip is $28, that purchase would likely be declined if there’s an additional authorization to account for a potential tip.
  • If you elect to use this feature, we recommend carefully selecting the purchase spending limit amount to avoid unintentional Card declines.
  • Purchase spending limits determine the amount a cardholder can spend on a single transaction. Please be aware there is no limit to the number of transactions a cardholder can make at a given merchant.
  • All True Link Cards have a daily purchase limit of $5,000 and a monthly purchase limit of $20,000.
