Access to Cash

Administrators can manage access to cash from the “Spending Settings" tab on the online dashboard, and from the “Spending Settings” page on the mobile app.

In this article, you’ll learn about cash access settings as well as cash withdrawal limits.

Cash access

Administrators can block or allow the following three ways to access cash in two ways:

  • Cash withdrawals at ATMs
  • Cash withdrawals inside a bank (i.e., getting cash from a teller at a bank)
  • Cash-back at time of purchase

Option 1 - True Link mobile app: To manage access to cash from the mobile app, log in and tap “Spending Settings.”

  • In the “Cash Access” section, toggle the buttons to “Blocked” or “Allowed.” If the setting is set to “BLOCK,” all attempts at cash withdrawal for that method will be blocked.
  • If the cardholder needs access to cash but you would like to limit the dollar amount that can be withdrawn per transaction
    • Toggle the type of cash access you want to permit to “Allowed.”
    • In the “Spending Limits” section, set a cash withdrawal limit. This limit will only be applied for the Allowed cash access type. Blocked cash access types will remain blocked

In the scenario above, only $50.00 at a time can be accessed via withdrawal at an ATM

Option 2 - Online dashboard: To manage access to cash from the online dashboard, click on the “Spending Settings” tab. At the top of the page you will see the “Cash access” section. Toggle the buttons to  “ALLOW” or “BLOCK.” If the setting is set to “BLOCK,” all attempts at cash withdrawal for that method will be blocked.

If the cardholder needs access to cash but you would like to limit the dollar amount that can be withdrawn per transaction:

  • Toggle the type of cash access you want to permit to “Allow.”
  • Scroll down to the Spending Limits section and check the box next to “Cash withdrawal limit.”
  • Enter the cash withdrawal limit.

In the scenario above, a cardholder would be able to ask for $30 cash back or less, per card transaction, but would be blocked from any cash withdrawals at an ATM or inside a bank.

Cash withdrawal limits

As highlighted above, you can restrict cash access and the dollar amount of cash withdrawals allowed based on cardholder needs. Additionally, there are daily and monthly limits regarding the amount of cash that can be withdrawn that apply to all cardholders.

Daily Limits:

  • $500 / day from a domestic ATM or point of sale transactions (e.g., cash back with purchase)
  • $500 / day over the counter cash withdrawal (e.g., from a bank teller)

Monthly Limits:

  • $3,000 / month from an ATM or point of sale transaction (e.g., cash back with purchase)
  • $3,000 / month over the counter cash withdrawal (e.g., from a bank teller)
  • $1,000 / month for international ATM or point of sale transactions (e.g., cash back with purchase)

The daily and monthly limits reset at midnight Pacific Standard Time and on the first day of each month.
